 YOUTH EXCLUSION, UNEMPLOYMENT THREATEN PEACE IN WEST AFRICA — SUMMIT CALLS FOR URGENT SME SUPPORT AND POLICY ACTION.  Unemployment, poverty, and limited inclusion in decision-making processes have been identified as major drivers of youth vulnerability to extremism in West Africa, as stakeholders call for urgent, coordinated action to address the growing challenge. These concerns came to the fore at the first-ever West African Youth Summit on Peace and Security organised by Conciliation Resources, bringing together young leaders and stakeholders from across the region. MLNR Engages Stakeholders on Wildlife Act Regulations Story by: Mary Bempah February 17, 2026 The Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Mr Yusif Sulemana, has called on stakeholders to actively participate in the formulation of regulations to operationalise the Wildlife Resources Management Act, 2023. He said the draft Legislative Instrument (L.I.), currently under development, was intended to strengthen wildlife governance, enhance enforcement mechanisms and promote community participation in the management of the country’s wildlife resources. Speaking at a stakeholder engagement, Mr Sulemana underscored the need for an inclusive approach to policy formulation, stressing that effective wildlife management required the input of local communities, traditional authorities, civil society organisations and private sector actors.  ‎The fight against Galamsey: National Task Forces Intensify Crackdown on Illegal Mining.  ‎ ‎Story by: Mary Bempah ‎ ‎Accra, Ghana – October 17, 2025: ‎Ghana’s fight against illegal mining has been stepped up following a joint nationwide operation by the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) and the Blue Water Guards. ‎ ‎The four-day enforcement exercise, conducted from October 13 to 16, targeted illegal mining activities in the Eastern and Western Regions, leading to the destruction and seizure of heavy machinery, including 12 excavators, 24 pumping machines, and 20 Changfan gold extraction units. ‎ ‎In the Eastern Region, NAIMOS operatives raided illegal sites in Oda Nkwanta, Old Abirem, Kyekyenkun, and the Oboho Forest Reserve, where three suspects were arrested and several pieces of equipment confiscated. ‎ ‎Simultaneously, the Blue Water Guards launched operations in Wassa Agona, Bogoso, Bayeregyia, and Mpohor in the Western Region, destroying ille...
