The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has announced that this year’s 41st National Farmers’ Day Grand Durbar and Awards Ceremony will be held in Ho, the capital of the Volta Region, on Friday, December 5, 2025.
Launching the event in Accra, the Minister for Food and Agriculture highlighted the celebration as a major milestone in recognising the dedication, resilience, and patriotism of Ghana’s farmers, fishers, and agricultural workers who continue to drive the nation’s food security and economic growth.
Celebrated annually since 1985, the National Farmers’ Day has become one of the country’s most important national events, honouring the contributions of farmers to sustainable development and national progress.
Themed “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future,” this year’s celebration focuses on the government’s agenda to achieve self-sufficiency in food production, reduce reliance on imports, and promote climate-resilient agriculture.
The Minister explained that the choice of Ho as the host city is both symbolic and strategic — symbolic because of the Volta Region’s strong agricultural heritage, and strategic as it represents the government’s commitment to balanced regional development.
As part of the celebration, a five-day National Agricultural Fair will be organised in Ho from Monday, December 1 to Friday, December 5, 2025, in collaboration with Agrihouse Foundation. The fair will showcase innovations in mechanisation, irrigation, fisheries, digital agriculture, and value addition across the agricultural value chain.
Corporate partners such as Agricultural Development Bank (ADB), Exim Bank, and Stanbic Bank were acknowledged for their continued support. Development partners including FAO, WFP, KOICA, World Bank, AfDB, AFD, and the governments of Italy, the Netherlands, and Canada were also commended for their contributions to advancing Ghana’s agricultural transformation.
The total cost for this year’s celebration is estimated at over GHS 20 million, covering activities at national, regional, and district levels.
The Minister appealed to the private sector, development agencies, and philanthropists to support the event in cash or kind, emphasising that “supporting farmers means investing in the nation’s future.”
